Good warm up  Sucess!

Good warm up for ol' Kelso Ridge on Torreys, or a good half-day hike close to Denver

South Slopes from Stevens Gulch Trailhead  Sucess!

I snowshoed to the Steven Gulch Trailhead from I-70. Once below the south slopes I was able to stash my snowshoes and trudge up to the summit. Although this peak is easy I underestimated it a little bit! The summit provides a unique perspective to Edwards, Grays, Torreys, Parnassus & Bard Peak. As to be expected, it was just me and the mountain on this beutiful January day (not common for weather as warm as I had).

Kick ass, sick glisade. Definitly the best. Worth the climb.

We, Haliku, and I got an early start during a light snowfall. As we ascended, the winds increased and we encountered whiteout conditions on our way to the summit. Despite the lack of views on the summit, it was a fun outing and good conditioning.

We, rkymtn and I, got an early start on what was a blustery winter condition Colorado day. It was snowing when we exited I-70 which forced us to hike most of the way up the road. Cold, windy and snowy conditions, sometimes at whiteout level, tried our determination. Once on the summit a few quick photos (mostly white) before we headed down. The lower we went the less it was snowing. Once back at I-70 we laughed that there wasn't any snow on the road. All in all a fun day.

Route Climbed: Up the torreys/ kelso saddle down the steep east slope Date Climbed: Aug. 22 2005  Sucess!

Nice little afternoon hike. Going down I decided to go down the steep section of the mountain that you can see from the TH. It was a nice class 3 section and added a little fun to the trip.

Hiked this one with my father. A great tundra hike with a good showing of wildflowers. Looking through binoculars to the southwest from from the top was a bit like watching an ant farm made of talus.

Great hike! Kelso Mountain was the exclamation point on our Mount Edwards, Grays Peak, Torreys Peak, Kelso Mountain eight hour trek. Great views and a relaxing summit.

Quick, easy climb with great views of the surrounding peaks. Fun, wide open ski for the descent.

Route Climbed: Northeast Ridge. Date Climbed: May 27, 1987  Sucess!

We started this climb from the short road intersection at 10,780' along the Stevens Gulch Road north of the peak. Hiking this road west for a few hundred yards we reached the lower avalanche slopes of the central couloir on the north face. From here we worked our way south along the rounded northeastern ridge, which forms the left hand side of the couloir. This ridge of mainly talus was followed to the summit. The descent was by a two thousand foot glissade down the central couloir....too much fun!!!
