Climbed with Kiliwarriors!!! They were awesome ... big thanks to Justin, Gideon and the others for guiding us to the top. All in our team of 5 made it to the Summit. Just be prepared as the descent was very challenging for several in our group. Can't say enough good things about the Kiliwarriors.

Great trip with Kiliwarriors and Faraja as our guide, Hosea our assistant, Kanini our camp manager. I was here in April 2004 with a different, well-known company, but this was fatastic! Great company, guides and porters. It isn't always about the summit, even though I made it twice, but about the experience on the mountain and the men that take you there. None better than Kiliwarriors.

Many people on the summit slogging in from Marangu at this time of year. Saw evacuated people. Scarey. Even though people of marginal fitness, like myself, can make it to the summit, you need to know it is a serious altitude and things can happen suddenly. Be prepared for that!

I climbed this route when I was 18 with two friends. We chose the Machame Route because we wanted a challenge (we couldn't see ourselves sleeping in cabins). EWP helped us organize our trip (http://www.ewpnet.com/Machame.htm), and we arrived in Kilimanjaro International Airport in late may of 2000.

We ended up having a guide, and assistant guide, a cook, and 5 porters to help us with our hike (for details see the shortcut listed above):

EWP was fantastic, and our trip was a dream! I recommend it to anyone in good shape. Avoid the Marangu route (too touristy in my opinion), and go with one of the more remote routes if you can.

It was very cold at the summit -20 celcius but a very good weather en view.

Before this mountain we have done mount kenia as acclimatisation so this one was not so difficult

Summit reached mid september 1991 with my friend Christophe Woronkowicz.

I strongly recommend the machame route, much less overcrowded and much more interesting than thje normal route.

This mountain has so much to offer for almost any level climber. I was so glad I took the Machame Route rather than the Marangu. Even though somewhat more demanding the Machame has so much more to offer from unforgetable views and less crowds. Also remember the true summit of Kilmanjaro is Uhuru and not Gilmans Point. By taking the Marangu Route many climbers reach Gilmans Point and decide not to continue around and up to Uhuru.

By taking the Machame Route you completely bypass the Gilmans Point and forces you (if you want to summit) to go all the way to Uhuru.

Believe me, take the extra time and energy and you will always be happy with your decision.

Went with my cousin Randy. Beautiful trip. Hot at the base, but as you go up, it gets even better.

This is the second time I have reached the summit within the past 18 months. Both times went with Zara, both times Machame Route. This is a great route for acclimatization. Weather crappy for first two days but then cleared up except for 1" snow in Barranco Valley! Clear summit night. At summit for sunrise - spectacular and never-to-be-forgotten. Subsequent descent extremely demanding. My climbing partner also reached summit, Daniel Bennett. Zara's Springlands Hotel in Moshi a great place to spend prep and post-climb days.

Had a very good climb - fantastic weather. Slow and steady going up, admiring the views. Was last to leave camp on summit day but third to reach summit - saw about five people turn back due to altitude sickness. Scree going down was exasperating, to say the least. Guide from Arusha Expeditions was a character.

My first significant mountain. Goodluck and Michael Jackson, we could not have done it without you. Amazing summit view and great higher altitude experience, better believe I'll do it again next time I'm in Tanzania.

I was inspired to climb Kilimanjaro by my friend who had cancer and was hospital-ridden. Thanks, Heather-

We summitted at 7am, after a midnight departure. It was snowing and very cold for the most part (I climbed in my down jacket) with 40mph blowing across the crater, but cleared up and calm at the summit. The 9000' descent back to a 10,000' camp is a killer...

Big ups to the Rhino Team from Moon-Adventure.

Reached the summit at Gilman's Point (5700m), about 200m short of the true summit at Uhuru Point. Had to turn back due to severe altitude sickness.

Great weather, and absolutely terrific pair of guides....Milton and Dickson from Zara Travel.

It was a beautifull trip. Sometimes we had some bad weather but in general it was nice and sunny. I didn't make it to the top and had to wait for my girlfriend in the Barafu (last) camp. Although I didn't make it , it meant a lot to be there. The beautifull scenery and every morning a cup of coffee on the mountain :-).

For sure I'll be back one day and hope to be more lucky.

Maybe see you out there somewhere.

Reached Uhuru for the 2nd time in 2 years, and despite snow & poor visibility, felt just as proud as I did the first time. This time, climbed with my 16 year old son. Marangu was pleasantly unlittered, compared with Machame 2 years ago.

Unbelievable experience. I was 53 and my sister-in-law was 60 when we went up. We had never been on any kind of mountain trek before. Hard work and more so during the long rain season! Am going again this July when I hope to have some views!
