Lemosho route. Beautiful hike, beautiful views. Great time. Made the signpost right at sunrise and stayed for almost an hour. No wind, not cold... Beautiful.

Dream of a lifetime... Traveled to Africa with SMI and climbed to the Roof of Africa. Awesome! Went on safari for a week in Tanzania. Amazing! Then finished with a week in Zanzibar on white sand beaches, turquoise waters and swam with wild dolphins. Beyond words!

Climbed Kilimanjaro in february, we had wonderfull weather. But in my opinion this is an ugly mountain. and i wouldn't recomend it to anyone except if the person has no mountaineering experience. the amount of human filth here is astonishing, the view from the mountain not realy spectacular. There are so many places that you can go to that cost way less and will leave you with a much bigger impresion

Took the Lemosho Route up, really enjoyed it, had just one other party near us an otherwise to ourselves for a few days until joining the masses on the Machame Route. Wish we'd have camped in the crater to spend more time up there.

Nice trip, but the safari afterwards beat the climb by a mile.

Did the 6 day Machame route. Beautiful scenery. Everyday was different. The summit night was mentally exhausting. More rain than I was ready for, but it didn't dampen my spirits.

Climbed the Machame Route, 6 days total. Midnight to 6:30 summit climb was a tough one, in an ice storm the whole way up. Fog and rain every day of the hike, but beautiful scenery when it was clear! Zara Tours made for a great experience.

Our group went from Oct 19-25 with Team Kilimanjaro, a company out of England. I went with my sister, Liz, and her friends Lexi, Michelle and Dieter. We also had two others in our group. We started from the Nalemuru Gate on the north side. The slow pace (pole-pole!) and an extra night at Horombo Huts to acclimatize allowed the entire group to reach the summit on Oct 24 with not too much trouble. I can't really say enough about Team Kilimanjaro. Great food, gear, service and people. Much more than I expected. On the way down we spent a night at Horombo before heading down to Marangu Gate the next day. Good Times.

Since we have to use a company on this climb, I used Zara Tours. It is run by locals, but probably owned by foreigners. However, this company provided great services. The food was superb. For the price, I definitely recommend using this company, especially since it is local, not international.

My first continent highpoint. Left Kibo hut at 1am during a snow storm and arrived at the summit before sunrise. I sat around freezing for well over an hour waiting for the sun to come up so I could take some pictures.

Climbed the Marangu route with a local Tanzanian company, Zara Tours. Got altitude sickness at the first hut (Mandara hut) at about 8,000 feet. Was fine the next morning and got to the Horombo Hut at about 13,000 feet without any problems. 3rd day was acclimatization. The 4th took us to the Kibo hut at about 15,000 feet. At about midnight, we pushed for the summit -- severe altitude sickness turned me back at Gilman's Point on the summit crater. Overall, great weather and a moderately easy climb for a fit individual who is well acclimatized.

Only 2 out of 5 made it. At the age of 72, I had no problems with altitude. I took Naprosyn and 2 Coca Tea bags daily that I got from Peru.

Fantastic time with R3. Summit morning was snowy with high winds. 1 to 3 cm of snow accumulation. Arrived atop for clearing clouds and sunrise.

Climbed Kili via the Shira route in 8 days (up & down), with guides from the African Walking Co. (whom i recommend). On the summit we couldn't see a thing because of the fog, but the achievement of getting to the top felt great!

Group of four from San Diego. The summit of Kili was clear every night of our climb. Then the mountain decided to dump an inch or two of snow on us the night before the summit. Although I missed having a view from the top, I loved the sporty feel of a summit in the snow. I felt like I was in the Himalaya, not Africa. I also loved not having to fight the scree slope on the last 30 min to Stella Point, having a nice blanket of snow holding the slope together.

Peak Freak

First three days featured some of the most beautiful and enjoyable hiking I have ever done! Day four was another easy hike. Summit day was a real slog in the snow, but we made it to the top around sun rise. Felt pretty good on the way down, so we hiked all the way out and finished early. If I did it again, I'd take six days up to be better acclimatized for summit day, and still hike all the way out the same day. As it stood, we did the whole thing in five.
