Camped at Dollar lake in the basin, and reached the top the next day. Great hike, but lots of people! I'll bet there were 30 people on top the day we reached it! Came down the scree chute on the way back to camp. Saves about 3 miles. going back this summer from the Kidney Lakes.

Climbed as a boy scout at age 12... What I remember most is that my parents wouldn't buy me any treats.. .I survived on the food the scout master set us up with. A lot of Cracked Wheat and Fish was consumed durring that 4 days!

First time at 12 years old. Interestingly, it has snowed every time I have been there; twice in July, once in August, and once in January.

Took my 5 year old boy on this trip. The only part I helped him with was the river crossing. We stayed the night. Hit the trail and made it to anderson pass and turned around due to lighting with 9 hours of rain and snow none stop. Went home after that. we will try again he says.

Did the trip in a three day outting. Took the shute up to Anderson pass. Snow was soft and deep so scrambling the rocks was the best place to get traction. Had good weather, except for the snow and rain that fell for a hour while on South Kings.

This mountain is not best done by a day hike, but our schedule required it. We began early and enjoyed the trail, but the approach is very long. We followed the trail up over Gunsight Pass and around to Anderson Pass, reaching the summit in the very early afternoon. Clouds were threatening, so we elected to descend the talus slope northeast of Anderson Pass down into Henry's Fork. This shaved off several miles and quite a lot of time, but we still arrived at the car after dark. I would like to camp next time.

Long hike! The views and solitude were certainly worth it! I only saw 1 group of people on the whole hike.

Great day. Overnighted to Henry Fork Basin. Awoke late and raced to get ahead of Boy Scout troop. Took cut off from Gunsight to Anderson Pass. Had an hour to myself on the summit on a clear, blue, beautiful day. Returned to camp and packed out.

Very fun. The most significant obstacles were moose at the top of Henry's Fork basin and sometimes aggressive mosquitos. Favorable winds kept smoke from area fires from interfering with a truely incredible summit view. If I come here again, I will bring a fishing pole!

Excellent three day trip to Henrys Fork and Kings Peak. First day hiked eight miles to camp near Dollar Lake. Second day hiked past some moose up to Gunsight Pass, down into Painter Basin, and back to Anderson Pass and the peak. Didn't stay long due to storm clouds rolling in...busy peak, but I had the summit to myself. Back to camp (13 mile day)...3rd day was eight mile hike out...wonderful scenery and a classic hike.

We did this as a backpack with at that time 78-yr-old Bob Martin, who was working on Utah county and state high points. Bob had sustained injuries earlier that year, so was thrilled to find out he could still do a backpack. After a pleasant pack in from Henry's Fork TH, the 4 of us camped at Dollar Lake. Didn't stay long on the peak due to threatening clouds gathering.

I was joined by my friend Duane and my father, who was then almost 80 years old. He had no illusions of going to the summit, but was anxious to enjoy a vigorous hike in the high wilderness. He turned around at about the 11 mile point for a 22-mile round trip. Duane and I approached via Gunsight Pass, taking the cross-country shortcut to Anderson Pass, then south up the summit ridge of Kings Peak. We completed the 28.8 mile round-trip hike after 1 AM the next morning. It was the longest day hike I have ever experienced, and a very enjoyable one at that.
