Kiowa Peak

The beautiful and forbidden Kiowa Peak, 13,276 ft, from the summit of Niwot Mountain. This peak is located in the City of Boulder watershed area, where access is denied, by the city, for some unknown reason. Could it be time for a protest to this unwarranted and indefensible policy. Indian Peaks Wilderness, Colorado.

Yes, access is always great to have to a
magnificent peak such as this one.

Question: Have you heard from SP - member 'Rayray??' Just curious, must be on
vacation somewhere. Nice peak, Jim. Hope things can be worked out with the City.

I've heard from Rayray a couple of times, but not regarding this image.
I doubt that Boulder would ever reconsider their no access policy. It's been closed for a long, long time and Boulder is infamous for being anywhere from eccentric to irrational. So it will remain a challenging stealth hike/climb to get these summits.

So the entire peak is closed? I could
understand if it was located inside a
military installation, such as Area 51.

Good luck, but remember, "Anything you do say, can and will be used against you in a court of law."
I think trying to organize a "letter to the editor of the Boulder Daily Camera" campaign using the mountaineering websites might work, if it's possible to get climbers & hikers to write letters.
I don't see how the City of Boulder can defend the no trespassing policy. All of the other Front Range cities & towns get their water supply from land that has public access, why does Boulder think they should be different? Maybe that's a rhetorical question, since we're talking about Boulder.

Who votes for idiots who engage in mob rule? Or is it some pen pusher making ridiculous laws by fiat? The Indian Peaks are a place of dreams.I lived in Longmont long ago. The Winter hikes into those mtns and lakes was a very spiritual life affirming experience.I bet the laws are being made by sub humans that have never seen the Indian Peaks.
