Koenigspitze from Ortler

Koenigspitze from Ortler

Koenigspitze seen from Ortler in amazing weather. It was at about 2 p.m., so it was the high time for the safe descend until sunset. We got to the Payerhuette about 30 minutes after the sunset. Then we descended to Tabarettahuette, where we had our base. Date of the photo: 27th september 2008

Great picture!

Looks like there is a lot of fresh snow? Where there many people on the summit?

Cheers, Jurgen

Re: Great picture!

Hi Jurgen, thanks. We had a luck for the weather. There was up to 1 meter of fresh snow from Tabarettaspitze on. We began as a large group of 21 climbers. 8 of us summited the peak, we were the last who did it that day. About 15 climbers climbed it the same day, but sooner than us. Cheers Tomas :)

Re: Grat!!!!

Hi Piku, thanks for your kind words. Actually, by this ascend I achieved my personal altitude record. I have never before been higher than at 2633 m, so my altitude record was increased by about 1300 meters. I'm glad I entered the world of Alps by this wonderful ascend. Now I'm more self-confident about future ascends in Alps. I see them no more being too far away and too high and too tough. But it was really strenous for me, I was absolutely tired after and had some bad times on descend. Cheers, Tomas :)
