Overview

From the Kamniška Bistrica trailhead, one cannot miss admiring its attractive form. This vertical (south oriented) wall is situated less than 2 hours above the trailhead and it is a very popular climbing destination in the range.
It might be too hot in the summer.

Many climbers have signed around 30 routes in the wall, among which:
- Virens, IV/III, 160 m (A.Šmid, V.Virens, 1937)
- Zupanova, VI-/V, 220 m (Ksavo Šemrov, France Zupan, 1950)
- Kamniška, VII-/VI+ (VI-,A1), 250 m (P.Šimenc, T.Škarja, 1962)
- Tržiška, V/IV, 170 m (L. Anderle, F. Bence, J. Lončar, L. Rožič, 1971)
- Rumena zajeda, VII-/VI (V+,A1), 100 m (Igor Levstek, Milan Schara, 1954)

> The summit of Kogel is at the level of the karstic grounds below the Skuta S face (Veliki Podi, 2100m), but one hardly even notices the knob when walking by. The closeby bivouac Pavle Kemperle below Grintovec E is probably better known than Kogel's summit.

Getting There

Approach:
The Crossing Gamsov Skret unmarked path leads to the foot of the wall.

Red Tape

The hotter it gets, the more attention should be paid to the snakes that live in the screefield below the wall. Just stick to the trodden path!

Unless signalized (barrier, signpost), and upon your own responsibility, macadamized roads are allowed and visible on maps (these roads are mainly maintained for lumbering and hut cable station access purposes).
Fishing & hunting is regulated.
Wild camping and open fires are not allowed.
The Kamnik-Savinja Alps are part of the Natura 2000 program.

Camping

One may bivouac on the cave ledge at the foot of the wall.
