Test trip with bad MCL, so I was moving relatively slow although I was able to scramble some intermittent Class 4 up the toe of an unnamed eastern buttress, then slog across the top of the cirque to the high point...where there was no register. Smokey skies ruin the views; dammit. Descended southeastern slope of Kuna Crest (S) to avoid downclimbing Class 4 with one leg.

Mono Pass TH to Spillway Lake to Helen Lake to summit. Gusty 25 mph headwind all afternoon, whitecaps on 10,952' Helen Lake. What a view in every direction! One of my favorite viewpoints in Yosemite.

Easy outing, nice views
Climbed as part of a two day outing with Mammoth Peak, Donohue Peak, and Gem Peak. Kuna Creek Basin was very scenic. Would like to head back there sometime.
