Madagasikara + Fraise des Boatchs  Sucess!

Climbed Madagasikara and finished the upper buttress on Fraise des Boatchs. We then continued to the summit and hiked down via the normal route. The descent was easy but not as obvious or as clean (lots of loose rocks/scree) as on many more popular routes in the Aig. Rouges.

Athena route  Sucess!

Fun but easy route. A minor warmup route on the Grande Floria

Route Climbed: Fraise des Boâtch / Eperon Sublime Date Climbed: july 2005 / july 2012  Sucess!

2005: After missing the start of Asia (we took the much harder Soho on the right side), we opted for Fraise des Boâtch. After the first 5 lengths we turned around and started to rappel. I still regret we didn't continu to the summit...

2012: Climbed the rather short Eperon Sublime in the sector Robin Wood. Good belays, spits in place where necessary. Just in time out of the route before heavy shower started...

An 'adventure' sport route - quite run out and a bit wobbly in places, but great fun

Route Climbed: Asia (started on Neige de Kilimanjaro) Date Climbed: August 2005  Sucess!

A very nice route and recommend topping out on the summit vice stopping before the final pitches (as many do). The view from the top into the valley behind the Aiguilles Rouges is great. Take care on the final unroped scramble to and from the summit. 3 double rope rappels bring you back down the midway point where you can walk off to the left (over scree).

Started on what we thought was Asia (5ish) but it turned out to be Neige de Kilimanjaro (6b). Managed to traverse to the correct route after 3 pitches. Nice slab climbing with a few technical pieces. Easy walk back to the tram.

Route Climbed: ? Date Climbed: june 10 2004  Sucess!

Totally underestimated how long of a hike/climb this one was. Started out a 5 in the morning and didn’t reach the summit until 10. I don’t know really what route I took but it was a small couloir that had me white knuckling the holds all the way up (that will teach me to go solo). I was sort of scared that I would have to descend this route on the way down. I didn’t realize that there was an easier route on the back side. I think that going down the mountain was the most enjoyable part, glissaded all the way down. I just let myself go on the last 200 ft cause it was all snow.
