La Meije since when I first saw her up close in 1988 has always been very impressive to me.

At one point some people thought La Meije was the highest mountain in the Alps. La Meije was first climbed in 1887. It was the last major Alpine peak to be climbed. It is a very photographic mountain but sometimes overlooked because it is a few meters short of 4000m. The view from the road at La Grave (1450m) must be one of the most impressive from any road in the Alps. This picture was taken from about 3100m while skiing down to La Grave.

Thanks as ever for your kind words and vote.
