Puerto de Peon from the north to La Mira  Sucess!

Hiked the marked path from the Hoyos del Espino Area to Puerto del Peon. Headed onto the ridge and hiked toward La Mira with some very impressive views towards Los Galayos. Lots of blooming gorse bushes put their distinctive fragrance in the air. Wonderful trip.

La Mira and Gran Galayo  Sucess!

We climbed La Mira and Gran Galayo (PD rock-climbing) from Nogal del Barranco in a nice day. We enjoyed a lot of this beautiful place.

MY FIRST MOUNTAIN IN SPAIN.   Sucess!

Yes, that long ago! I was with a group of Brits (an organised walking package) with a guide called Andrew. It was my birthday and I hadn't told anyone and I was on my own in this strange group of people. We had been doing easy walking during the week, but this day was quite a toughy. Specially for me, being my first time out in hills really - first time EVER.
My room mate (susan, I think) suffered from vertigo and had an "attack" on the way down - we had to help her over the bouldery bits and it took forever.
Weather a bit misty but I got to see rock climbers for the first time ever too - on Los Galayos, the amazing rock pinacles in the area.
The sumit shot is a bit disappointing. It doesnt look that high.
Good if vague memories of this day. It was my first trip to Spain and I just knew it was not going to be my last.

La Mira from Nogal del Barranco  Sucess!

Not far from Guisando village we found a place called Nogal del Barranco, where we can park our car.
There you can find signals that tell you 3 hours to Victory hut and 4 hours to La Mira summit. This is true, at least for medium mountainers like me.
Great views over Galayos range, a paradise for rock climbers.
