Re: Refreshing Reflection

Thanks - but of course - tea and biscuits!
You get to share them with the chipmunks.

Great composition!

I've heard a lot about this place,
and it's on my list of places to go!
Are you originally from Canada?

Re: Great composition!

Thanks - you should go - you would love it. But it can be busy as National Parks can be during certain parts of the year.
Born in Canada as well as my parents and grandparents and in BC.

Re: Great composition!

That's great! I always wanted to see the
impressive peaks of Canada, and I have a
cousin I need to see in Port Angeles, WA.
My question is: What is the HIGHEST peak
in British Columbia, and how often is it
actually climbed by people? There's one
higher than Robson, right???
How many (highway miles) is it from Vancouver, BC to Lake Louise??? Is it
easy to rent a car in Canada?

Re: Great composition!

The highest peak in BC - entirely is Waddington and the logistics of getting in are hard - no road. Most people these days fly in. Once there it is not an easy place - big mountains and big glaciers. It is climbed every year (or at least attempted) but Waddinton requires rock climbing as well as mountaineering skills. The highest peak in BC but is on the Alaska border is Fairweather and although there is an "easier" route up it - again the logistics of getting in and the horrible weather and not to mention huge crevasses make it a mountain that is very difficult to climb. It has less people attempt it then Waddington. Both these are on the BC coast. Robson is near Jasper in the Rockies (kind of).
Lake Louise is approx 500 miles from Vancouver and takes over 10 hours to drive. Traffic can slow down in various spots along the way esp the Rogers Pass area. But it is all beautiful so being patient helps. Renting a car in Canada is as easy as renting in the States.

Re: Great composition!

Thank you for the valuable information!
I think I'll stick with the northern Rockies,
as I tend to melt when I get too much rain
landing on me. Where does the Columbia River
actually begin??? Is there an individual glacier called the Columbia Glacier? I suppose that area gets plenty of visitors.
Cheers ... from Arizona.

Re: Great composition!

The Columbia river's headwaters is Columbia Lake near Kootney National Park - Rockies and the Purcell mtns drain into it. There are lots of visitors in the summer to some of the areas and there is some incredible hiking and climbing opportunities there.
