Abbot Pass Hut Trailcan be seen crossing the upper part of the scree in the lower left of the pic, then crossing the ledges and around the base of Victoria. The trail then switchbacks up the scree to the hut. Really good picture.

Re: Abbot Pass Hut TrailThanks Bill! It was a perfect place to view the approach. I have another picture where the trail is more visible, but I'll leave the pictures of Oesa from this day at two.
I was going to ask you if you've been to the cabin before, but your profile picture answered my question! I can imagine it is an amazing place to be. It's really quite a beautiful structure. How does the slog up the scree compare to the scramble up the gulley on Tower of Babel?

Re: Abbot Pass Hut TrailThere actually is a reasonable switchbacked trail that has been made and marked by paint on the larger rocks so it is mostly better footing than the tower of Babel. There are some parts that get wiped out by the scree surfers coming down but not too bad. Hikers do go up with their kids although there can be serious rock fall so some risk and helmets are good idea.
Some more pics at Victoria attempt

Re: Abbot Pass Hut TrailLoved the pics from the hut and good advice on the helmet. I do remember hearing when that girl died after being struck by rockfall on this approach to the hut - 2004 I believe? I'll make it up there someday - so many things to see, so little time! But that's part of the excitement of it all ...
