Hasn't voted | Thank you Afzal! I love the shade of blue of that lake. Of all the Uinta lakes I have seen to date it has the prettiest shade of aqua. | | Posted May 30, 2011 11:57 am |

| lcarreau | Gotta say Z J .. | |
Voted 10/10 | Only my opinion, but what makes this picture
so special is the "growth patterns" of the
Engelmann spruce and subalpine fir.
I'm wondering what a person would do if they
suddenly got caught in an intense lightning storm near this elevation.
Would you hide beneath one of those trees?
If so, then which one? Food for thought.
Guess if worst came to worst, you could jump
into the lake, but lightning has been known
to strike lakes.
Anyway, it's a clear picture of what's
out there .. | | Posted May 31, 2011 12:34 am |

Hasn't voted | I'd be running as fast as I could downhill to an area of thick tree cover (not those little tree clumps in the picture), wondering how I ever could have been so stupid, and vowing never to venture forth in bad weather again. | | Posted May 31, 2011 11:21 am |

Voted 10/10 | If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes.
If you're an impatient fellow like I am,
it doesn't do any good to second-guess the
weather, because it will always win in the end.
Of course, don't have to tell YOU any of this .. | | Posted May 31, 2011 11:34 pm |

Voted 10/10 | .. that ZeeJay is able to find the time to
visit all these beautiful basins, passes and
alpine peaks.
I wish my wife would let me out more !!! | | Posted May 31, 2011 8:37 am |

Hasn't voted | It's going to be a miracle if the snow ever melts in all those basins this year. | | Posted May 31, 2011 11:25 am |
| Scott | Interesting. | |
Voted 10/10 | The lake has always been a pretty kind of blue with the glacier milk in it, but the color has actually changed in the last 20 years.
Check out my 1990 photo below:

Hasn't voted | Yes, I've seen that picture. I chalked up the difference in color to potentially different times of day and angles. It never occurred to me that the lake color actually changed. I darkened my picture slightly, the original was an even lighter shade of blue.
Here's another picture of the lake.
On that same trip, we went by Pigeon Milk Spring about a mile SSW of Rocky Sea Pass on the Highline Trail. It looked pretty clear, but I had remembered it being a not too pretty shade of milky gray from a trip 20 years ago. | | Posted Jun 6, 2011 6:55 pm |
