Largest Glaciers in the North Cascades

Largest Glaciers in the North Cascades

This map shows the largest glaciers in the North Cascades and surrounding area (not including the Olympics and Mount Rainier) that were 1 sq. km. or greater as of 1971, identified by Austin post et al in the 1971 USGS paper titled “Inventory of glaciers in the North Cascades.” NOTE: MANY OF THESE GLACIERS ARE MUCH SMALLER TODAY, SOME SADLY SHRINKING TO NEAR NON-EXISTENCE. Thanks to John Roper for help putting together the list which orders the glaciers by size (SEE NUMBERS ON MAP). Poster by Steph Abegg, 2009-2010. Photo: Dana glacier on dome Peak. taken from the north at white rock lakes, July 2009.
