Superb skimountaineering trip. We were me, "il Marantz" and "il Paglia". Fantastic weather, only too much wind. Snow unforgettable: we start ski directely from the iron tower of the top. We slept in tent in Devastated Area. Third trip of our American tour from Europe to ski volcanous.

Did this hike in the winter of 1997. I don't remember the route we took. We had great weather the day we were there. Long hike in, and a long hike out. We did not see a soul!

Climbed this during a fierce snowstorm with my brothers Mike and Mark. Quite an expreience for, three as of then, flatlanders from Illinois.

It was a beautiful winter day with lots of sun and partly cloudy. The views of the winter landscape, snow-capped peaks, and distant lakes was wonderful.

The days of this 3-day trip were all really warm for this time of year where a long-sleeve t-shirt was enough when hiking up vigorously. Near the summit plateau, the wind was much higher and a change to full winter shell and winter accessories (hat, gloves, etc.) were needed.

The summit was a beautiful place to be in winter and the view of Shasta 60 miles to the Northwest was superb. Could have spent a lot of time at the summit, but sitting in the cold and wind wasn't conducive. Great place to be in winter!

Daughter Abbey and I summitted Lassen Peak once again (her second time, my third). Enjoyed a beautiful and fairly clear day, with good views everywhere. We ran into a gentleman who is training for Kilimanjaro (leaving next week), and had an enjoyable conversation with him as well. Fresh snow in many parts of the park, including a few places on the trail.

Someone else here commented on the trail looking like a school field trip. Well, there literally was a school field trip on the trail that day (some high school near Eureka) - and covering the entire summit as well. Not the place to seek solitude, but great for views and a nice training hike.

I was a bit tired from attempting Shasta (got to about 10,500') the day before but coudn't resist this one. Pretty much ran the whole thing - 42 min. up and 24 down. Spent an hour at the summit looking around - what a strange summit area!

Climbed with my eight year old daughter Abbey... the promise of a cheeseburger at the Lassen Chalet was enough to get her all the way to the summit. Had a great hike, and it was fun to be back at the top again!

After a 3 day backpacking trip we couldn't resist the quick hike to the summit. About 90 minutes up, 45 minutes down. Nice view of the smoke from the fire burning inside the park. There were enough people on the summit to have a small town meeting....

Much easier than i was expecting. First on the trail at 6am. The summit was beautiful. Great views of Shasta and Lake Almanor. Couldn't believe all the people headed up on our way down. Lots of skiers! Snow was much softer/safer on way down. To the dude in the "UtilaKilt"...you're a stud pal.

warm-up for Agassiz - 90 minutes to summit - lots of snow on the way up and we scrambled a little at the top. I seriously recommend you start no later than 6:30 AM - after that it turns into a grade-school field trip.

Easy effort climb; brutal winds and cold. Felt like March on Sonora Pass all over again. I wished I'd brought my gortex gloves to fend off frostbite. CA COHP #20. Trail and summit were entirely empty -- 1/2 from the early hour (done by 8:30am) and half from the dense overcast cloud system that stretched all the way to Shasta and beyond.

Nice hike, with good views of Shasta 100 miles to the north poking out through the top of the clouds...
