Last Peak Before Mount Bole

Last Peak Before Mount Bole

If you are heading south on Hyalite Ridge to Mount Bole, this is the last peak you have to cross or bypass along the way. Since the easiest bypass only keeps you a matter of a few yards beneath the summit, you might as well hit the summit even though it's unranked. The descent south from this summit is, in my opinion, the trickiest part of the route, for you have to negotiate a small but significant area of towers of hardened volcanic ash that are lovely but look frightening to climb on. I actually did climb over them on the way to Bole, but on the way back, I found a way through them. Gallatin Range, MT-- July 2012
