Le Conte Mountain from the...
Le Conte Mountain from the north (from the Spider-Formidable Col, I think) on the morning of August 14, 2005. Le Conte could be considered the halfway point of the traverse and is just south of the south end of Stage 2.

I can't get over how dry the mountains are in your photos, compared to when we did the traverse! Still, my shots from Mix-up are about that dry, from 1977. The winter before that had been so dry they kept the North Cascades Highway open all winter. That's never happened before or since that year. Thanks for the photo; it's easy to see the route under Le Conte here.
