Two vie ferrate in a day Date Climbed: Aug 17, 2012
My company spent a summer weekend for our summer meeting at Plan-Francey, right beneath the Moléson north face. In the morning of Aug 17th 15 people decided to climb one of the two vie ferrate, most of us opted for Voie du Pilier, while five, including me, wanted to climb Voie Hohl. The company had hired a guide for the Pilier Route but once at the intersection between the two routes he convinced everybody to climb the harder Voie Hohl instead. Spent 3 hours on the route with the big group but enjoyed the climb throughout.
On the summit some of us decided to take the cable-car down, take a short rest at the refuge de Plan-Francey and the climb Voie du Pilier. Six of us did this but it became obvious right from the start that we didn't have much strength left. Climbed the route in 2 1/2 h and were absolutely happy on top. I consider Voie du Pilier the harder route: more exposure, less protection and a long stretch without any decent resting places.
