Re: Yesss!

I can agree about the similarity, but only thanks to the clouds.

You can see a larger portion of the Grandes Jorasses summit, view from the same direction, in this photo taken only some minutes before.

Other views will come...probably.

Cheers!

Beautiful sight, Antonio

Where did you take it from? Can't make it out... could it be the Col du Géant?

Re: Beautiful sight, Antonio

Looks like it was taken from the Tete du Ferret - right, Antonio?

Re: Beautiful sight, Antonio

Not exactly, but the viewing direction is rather similar.

Antonio took it when we were together at the foot of Aiguille des Angroniettes, placed between Vallone di Combette and Vallone di BelleCombe (near the head of Italian val Ferret)

Re: Beautiful sight, Antonio

Was there (Bellecombe) three week ago on a VERY rainy afternoon, only the lower part of the east face was visible. One of my "depression tours" :)

For those not familiar with the area, Antonio's picture shows the top of the east face of Grandes Jorasses. To the left (on the sun) the exit of the Tronchey Ridge. At the center the mixed terrain at the junction of the Hirondelles Ridge and the east face proper. To the right (in the shadow) the headwall of the NE face of the Cassin (or Walker) spur.

Thanks to Livio for pointing me I had just created the first mountain with two left sides!!! :)

Re: Beautiful sight, Antonio

Yes, I was definitely wrong. The east face was the logical choice. Thanks for your explanations
