Licancabur and Laguna Verde | [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
An overdose of arsen is responsible for the green color of the Laguna Verde - its water is so toxic that nothing survives in it...
The summit of Licancabur was used for astronaut training as nowhere else on earth conditions are more similar to Mars than up there ! Comments[ Post a Comment ] | Mark Doiron | Almost Alien ... | |

Hasn't voted | the dryness, coldness and intense ultraviolet radiation creates at Licancabur (and surrounding vulcanoes) conditions potentially analog to Martian Lakes - so you aren't that much off with the alien landscape .....shoudl you wonder why there are no flamingos in the lake - the lake got its green color from way too much arsen in the water - nothing survives in there | | Posted May 16, 2008 9:53 pm |
