Another view of the mountain lion skull, from N of Bonanza Peak. The dentition, short face, and large eye sockets are typical of the cat family. A friend told me that she felt safe running along the Bonanza Trail, because "there were no mountain lions in this area". This skull may in fact be old, but not too old, since it was on top of the leaf cover.
