2009 Total elevation gain.161,020 feet. 2009 Total round trip mileage.419 miles.Summits for 2009.This list will continually be updated as progress is made for reaching goals and milestones for 2009! The Salt Lake County Highpoint Peaks over 10,000 feet is a goal which was reached May 29th, with the last summit being a great spring snow traverse over Bighorn Peak. Completing all of Utah's Ultra Prominence Peaks is completed. This is a continuation of the 2008 list, which helps reference and identify the peak and routes completed. I got active in climbing and hiking again in the early part of August of 2008, every week since then has been a quest to reach a summit or two. There are many motivating factors to keep bagging peaks. Probably the most prominent reason is in memory of my Uncle who lost his life in 1995 climbing North Thunder Mountain in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah. More info on his route that day can be found here.
This list is arranged from the most recent hike/climb.
 Bastard Peak, 11,391 feet.
 White Pine Peak, 10,215 feet.
 Loafer Mountain, 10,687 feet.
 North Tent Mountain, 11,230 feet.
 Lewiston Peak, 10,411 feet.
 Reed Benson Peak, 10,561 feet.
Climbs/routes completed without a summit. 2nd attempt on the San Rafael Knob, which was later bagged on March 19 2009. Check out that trip report here.Special Information. In addition to the 2008 list this will be again mentioned in the 2009 portion.
I found this awesome website try to research a route my uncle died on back in 1995. One look at Summitpost from that day and I'm hooked. The trip report about Jim's route is HERE. An interesting twist/development on re-tracing Jim's route was finding that he did make the summit that day. I noticed in mtn runr's climber's log entry on North Thunder that he had the original summit register from before 1997. I contacted him to check the register for a possible entry from Jim that day. Turns out he did sign the register! Grizz, mtn runr took photos of Jim's entry and emailed them. They are now priceless family photos, the family is ecstatic about them. It changed everyone's perspective of Jim's last climb. Thank you mtn runr!

All these summits this year are for my memory of Jim.
