it was about 1m/3,28feet. the first animal we saw on our trip.

Goanna

It's a goanna. Very Common. Got one living in my roof cavity.

Sweet monitor

Wow, never seen one of these in the wild but then again never been to australia! Great shot, his scales look like a persian rug pattern

Good example

of camouflage in nature and an interesting reptile....never saw one myself but still would be hesitant to get close!

They are very nice.
In December I met their 'relatives' in Galapagos!!! And got very close ;)
