| Waited about half an hour at the trail junction below the peak for the hail storm to clear and then summited. Great hike. Several bighorn sheep on the ridge past Italianos. | ||

| Nice long and strenuous climb, with lots of stream crossings. The trail marker says 5 miles, making the round trip 10 miles. The maps say the Manzanita trail to be 4.2 miles which I believe ends at the ridge. This would make the ridge to summit distance to be 8/10 of a mile. 10 miles and 3,900 feet elevation gain made for a tough day. The views from the top are awesome and the weather was perfect for Friday the 13th. | ||

| Garon Coriz | Cloudy Day Up Manzanita ![]() Date Climbed: Jul 24, 2010 | |
| The clouds covered the tops of all the peaks in the area and did a treadmill action as they rolled in place. The trail was a bit muddy in spots and the top had a good load of wind. I saw 4 people total on the peak. I started at 9:30 am, summited at 11:30, and returned to the car by 1:00 pm. The experience was great and the weather contributed to a Pacific-NW-like atmosphere. | ||

| Alex Wood | Yerba Trail ![]() Date Climbed: Jun 16, 2010 | |
| I thought I was on the Manzanita Trail, but turns out I was on the Yerba Trail (guess thats why the map wasn't making sense). Only saw a few people around the start and then saw no one else the whole hike up. Amazing canyon! So much vegetation and water. Really pretty. I did it solo and started at 10:30 and summited at 1:00pm and then headed over to Perra Peak and then ended up at the road again around 3pm. Very neat area | ||

| scotthsu | 22 stream crossings & lots of snow ![]() Date Climbed: Jun 5, 2010 | |
| Hiked up Manzanita Canyon crossing the stream 11 times up (and 11 times down). There was lots of snow above 10500' making for some fun navigation. We ended up hiking straight up a steep slope, gaining the ridge just SW of the summit, but tried to follow the regular route down. We had great success using our kid carrier pack for our first "big" hike with our 5.75 month old baby girl. | ||

| Manzanita Canyon is beautiful--so much vegetation, so lush. Great views toward Wheeler and the Rio Grande Gorge. (Unfortunately, the nearby molybdenum mine, too.) | ||
