Standard route  Sucess!

With my friend Russell. Gale force winds, sleet, then sun and rain. Typical Scottish weather in May.

A worthy summit  Sucess!

On a few days' holiday while in Scotland for work. Decided at the last minute to head up this interesting mountain. Sure it's round, sure it's low, but I bet in winter it's still a bugger of a hike. I had the top to myself on a mildly-overcast day, descended the waterfall trail. This definitely looks like the best mountain in the neighborhood. Deer and grouse everywhere, and quite noisy. A good first Scotland/UK summit, I'm not disappointed.

Ski ascent  Sucess!

Date approximate - although year is correct and I recall it was close to easter. Made ascent on ski's/skins then downhilled it to the bottom.

Black Spout, LHB  Sucess!

A beautiful scramble to the top. At times the weather is fierce, but it's very photogenic with the sun out. I try to hit this mountain every time I'm in Aberdeen for work.

Lochnagar September 2007  Sucess!

Did this summit on a very good Saturday via Broad Cairn, Cairn Bannoch, Carn an t'sagairt Mor and Carn a' Choire Bhaidheach.
The weather was great all day but off course just as we reached Cac Carn Beag the cloud level dropped and killed the views.
Got down at 21:40hours in the dark but still a great day.
Worth doing again and again...

From Loch Callater  Sucess!

A fantastic (easy!) walk via Carn an-T-sagairt Mor and Carn a’Coire Boidheach with an exciting view far over the Deeside and to the Grampians. Absolutely recommendable!!

Bushwacking  Sucess!

Usually scramble up directly NE from the crags, tourist route down. This approach requires about 2 km of bushwacking, but the scrambling is nice.

Enjoyable experience  Sucess!

Spent a week camping near Alt na Giubshiach with a friend and managed to climb Centrall Butress and the left hand branch of Black Spout. Very nice introduction to Scottish winter climbing!

Tourist route  Sucess!

I climbed this with my 70 year old Grandad (who has done all the Munro's, probably almost twice) via the tourist route. It was nice.
