North Ridge
Mary and I climbed this with a planned bivy after gaining the notch at the start of the ridge. Some excellent bivy ledges can be found with nice views of the lights down in Lone Pine. The route was much longer than expected, with multiple sections of 5th class climbing. We stayed almost entirely on the ridge crest. The descent is not straighforward, but we made it work and found ourselves at Grass Lake for the hike out. A bigger day than we were looking for.
Solo hike July 01, 2011. Started from Whitney Portal campground at 6:30am on a warm July morning. Gained Grass Lake in no time through patches of snow and had lunch. Started up the Northwest Slope and found staying to far left edge of slope afforded easier footing. Once on the saddle, made the mistake of staying on the ridge and mounting several false summits. Made the summit as water ran out. Beautiful views. Will be back for winter ascent.

NW Slope from Meysan Lake Trailhead
Dayhiked from Meysan Lake trailhead with Jen Blackie and climb up the chute above Grass Lake. Could have done with a bit more snow as the loose rock up top was very unstable but a nice climb. Great views from up top.

Dang that's loose!
Slogged the NW slope with intentions of returning to do the North Ridge. Gotta be one of the loosest crapiest things ever but at least I'll be able to find the way down next time. I feel like such a wuss when the route has the word "slope" in it haha.

Winter Shut-down
Attempted the North Ridge of LPP. Attempted the climb from Whitney Portal road to Meysan Lakes Trail after being advised to do so by a local. Wandered and thrashed in the drainage (we started at 1am), thrashed some more, and gave up. Blessing in disguise as winds upward of 70 mph were present on the ridge...definitely will be back for that one!

Standard route and north ridgeNot as loose as it looked, but I need to return for the north ridge.
