scrambled up from Island Lake  Sucess!

hiked this one together with East Long Mountain with my niece Chelsea and her husband Brandon during a family backpacking trip to Island Lake. My trip got cut short the next day when my daughter took a bad fall scrambling down a steep mountain slope near camp.

Nice hike and ski  Sucess!

3/14/10 The SM road is not plowed in the winter so we had to start about 1/3 mile from the Weber Canyon Road. We skied up the road, going over the reservoir and then followed the trail as best we could until we headed directly for the saddle between Long and North Long. From near the saddle, we booted to the top. We had beautiful weather. Even though an 80% chance of snow was predicted, we saw nary a flake. 6:35 to the top and just under 10 hours RT. 20 miles total and about 4000' elevation gain. With Dmitry, Rob, and Sharon.

8/25/01 Started at the Smith and Morehouse TH and climed East Long first and then took the ridge SW and went over Long, 11327, North Long (11340), 11258, and Hells Kitchen Peak (11058). Then reversed steps to Hells Kitchen Pass (10803) and headed WSW to 10534 and then bushwhacked back to the trail. The east side of 10534 is very steep and I thought I might have to circle around it to get to the top, but it turned out to be a straight forward scramble. 10:40 RT
