Looking down at the trailhead from the Mount Garfield Trail (September 20, 2003). If you look carefully you can see the tunel under I-70 on the left. The trail goes straight down the top of the rib in the center of the photo. If I had to estimate, I'd say this is about a third of the elevation that must be gained to reach the summit.
