Bet the old outhousehad QUITE the view! I worked at Mt. Rainier in 1989 ... just after Camp Muir started using a "solar-powered" decomposition outhouse. (20 YEARS LATER!)- NICE!
Makes me APPRECIATE what we have NOW. Time for a "Starbucks" break. Take care & THANKS!!I LOVE it.

Re: Bet the old outhouseThat old outhouse was closed but there was another one near the guide hut on the Cowlitz glacier side, that had a metal seat. Metal on below zero days, not good. There was also generally a line up so if you planned it right, that metal seat would be warmed up. The outhouse had its "products" aimed into a crevasse which is no longer allowed.
