Re: You were lucky...I'd say I was lucky all along the way over there in Sächsische Schweiz! It could just as well have been nothing but wind, snow and ice, as on the day we left, but instead it was very mild for February, hardly any ice or snow anywhere, and on top of it such clear weather and colors, particularly the day we went up to the Bastei!
Thanks for dropping by, Vid, and cheers,
Eric

Re: You were lucky...I'm almost inclined to think that the Elbe is blue on more days of the year than the Danube...

Re: You were lucky...When I was there it was after some important floodings so it was very "brown" :D
The cycling track on the shore is really great. See the MBPost page !

Re: You were lucky...I can imagine it is! I was thinking of this when I was there! I like cycling - I once cycled around the whole lake of Geneva in two and a half days - it was wonderful! And to do the entire Elbe, from the Czech republic all the way to Hamburg must be great, too - besides Sächsische Schweiz there are many other lovely areas along it, like for instance the Elbauen; those I saw when I was in Hitzacker (Lower Saxony).
