I had the idea that I would bike the 11.4 miles from route 40 along Forest Road 090 to a point NNW of the summit and then just head up the hill. I was also going to bike over to 9620 and Poison Ridge. I started at elevation 7640 and 5.5 miles later after going up and down about a million big hills to get around the reservoir I was back down to 7640. I biked up another 1100' in 3 miles at a snail's pace and said "the heck with this" and rode back down to the start, got the car and started over.

I parked at 40.08242 111.09113 for Lounger and 40.06654 111.11721 for 9620 and in both cases just made a bee line for the summits up mostly open slopes.

To get to Poison Ridge, I turned off of #090 onto #109 and drove the steep part down in my Subaru which probably wasn't such a good idea as it was heavily rutted, but once I started down I was committed as it was too narrow and rutted to turn around. As soon as it widened up a bit, I dragged the bike back out and headed over to both of the Poison Ridge bumps. The road over there is permanently gated off where #353 heads north and #109 makes a hairpin turn. There were incredible views of the reservoir along #353.

It is always nice to get a surprise on a summit. I would think the lounger was made by some hunters waiting for an elk to pop out from the east slopes below. Trip Report

DeanCombo hike  Sucess!

My primary intention was getting this one since it was a p1k prominence peak (a thousand feet of prominence) and then "Power Line" peak as noted by Eric Willhite in his fine trip report (see link on main page). It was a beautiful day and other than a few hunters and campers, I had the mountain pretty much to myself.
