"Luck\'s Still a Lady"
"Luck is a lady whose smile,

Is as cold as a stone.

She'll bring you things,

Many things you might never have known.

But when your die is cast,

She'll have the final laugh at you ..."

When your die is cast at Bryce Canyon NP, don't worry about anybody laughing at you.

Along the Queen's Garden Trail, stone-cold hoodoos have no heart or soul. They stand (only) in silent testimony ... to the eternal winds that blow ...

The "poetic lyrics" were written by musicians
Dennis DeYoung and James Young in 1978, from
the Pieces of Eight album by the band "Styx."

In a follow-up interview, DeYoung explained:

The overall theme of the "Pieces of Eight" album is: "not giving up on your dreams just for the pursuit of money and material possessions."

Here's another cut off the album.
