Me with a spade (essential scientific instrument) and my reliable Russian camera. Of the less important things:-) the blue fjord is called Hornsund; the distinct tip rising above the plateau across the fjord is called Hornsundtind – it's the highest point (1431m) of southern Svalbard. Voted 10/10 | Svalbard... I imagined just land of ice...and not a half naked man. Looks beautiful... | | Posted Mar 13, 2010 9:09 am |

Hasn't voted | OK, time is relative, Liba. But I have a medical self-help guidebook, and there's this standard question in many a chapter: "Are you over 50?" Still, it's not "Are you over 10,000?", so I hope we can agree on the "man of the Little Ice Age" :) | | Posted Mar 20, 2010 2:25 pm |

Voted 10/10 | Well, you are not even that old to remember the little ice age. My brothers are your age...Just forget the medical stuff - I would be old too, I should have a mammogram every year, but hate any interventions...It is in your mind.... | | Posted Mar 20, 2010 9:05 pm |

Hasn't voted | Sure, Liba, I keep telling this to e.g. my joints but those bastards just won't listen.:) I will not give up though, seriously. | | Posted Mar 21, 2010 4:14 am |

Voted 10/10 | I am sorry Jacek about your joints. I had a few injuries and became very frustrated when I could not move.... but still you should be optimistic - you do not need a wheelchair. I think that we need to keep trying be happy for every little thing we get... | | Posted Mar 21, 2010 9:16 am |

Hasn't voted | Agreed, Liba. Although I'm realistic by nature, you can surely call me optimistic given my plans for the years to follow, which include moving closer/into the mts, possibly working in the UK for part of the year, and series of quick treks/hikes with a light pack. (I can hardly carry more than 11 kg on my poor back – which is actually something I shouldn't do - but the gear's got pretty light recently as you know).
Cheers

Voted 10/10 | or you can get someone to carry the stuff for you... haha
I hope that you will get better - it is frustrating not to be able to move... Good luck Jacek, and if you make it to US - I will carry your stuff... | | Posted Mar 22, 2010 12:48 am |

Voted 10/10 | I am impressed... I was starring at Hatatila, and could not remember where did I know this name from? of course... Old Shatterhand's horse...a beautiful one too...But, I still remember full name of Hadgi Halef Omar (about 2 lines)....
Hatatitla can carry more than me... | | Posted Mar 22, 2010 8:57 am |

Hasn't voted | Without doubt, Liba, and all this will make for a new May novel "Old Shatteredjoints Venture and the Treasure of Moravian Karst" :), the first May book written in English as my German is limited to just a few words. Sure it won't be In the Gorges of the Balkans LOL | | Posted Mar 23, 2010 6:43 am |
