That bivy is one of the reasons why I have a lot of respect for climbers. It is also one of the reasons why I'll never be one.

once you're all settled in (& exhausted) it feels like being in a small tent. Thanks for the visit J.

same feelings as Jason. I really cherish my
sleep, and I could never put myself inside a
bivy - even though the glass is still half full.

WOW!! I couldn't imagine a bivy like that!! I was at the base of El Cap last summer and I was in total awe of those climbers! Laid in the meadow and watched them through the binoculars! You're a special breed!

What ever happened to the good ol' days when hardmen spent the night trying unsuccessfully to sleep squashed up in a hammock? The port-a-ledges are CHEATING!!!! (:

Great photo, looks like a MANSION!

:) in my case my head & feet hang beyond the ledge giving me at least a slight taste of the old school way of sleeping! thanks for visiting.

...had a place to sit still and loosen those cramped fingers. I sure hope that cot had strong fabric and viable connections. I would not been able to smile so easily like you did! 10/10
