| KyleCozzens | First Time Up ![]() Date Climbed: May 11, 2013 | |
| First time up Mailbox Peak and first summit in Washington State. It was a strenuous hike, but not as difficult as I had anticipated based on its reputation. I counted 30 other hikers before we were even halfway. I stopped counting after that. The view from the summit was nice, minus I90 and all the other hikers at the top. We were even able to make out Seattle in the distance. | ||

| We Got our butts handed to use which is to be expected from this hike. It started with rain... And rain... And more rain and then it turned to snow just to mess with us. We got out of the tree line and my buddys hamstring decided to pull with in 500 feet of the summit. We made it but going down was absolute fun. Expect fog and about a foot and ahalf of snow when you break through the main treeline. Couldn't find the mailbox eaither but I guess it is probaly under the snow. Will for sure try again when there is less snow. | ||

| seabadge | Solo winter summit in micro spikes ![]() Date Climbed: Jan 6, 2013 | |
| Knew it was the trailhead by the discarded McDonalds trash bags. Trash peak, you lived up to your name. Thoroughly enjoyed the elevation gain, as well as the short trail run down in micro spikes. Did not enjoy the blizzard or avalanche field at the top. Attempted a sunrise hike, but the conditions put me at the summit later than expected (and no views were to be had anyhow). | ||

| Going up was not so bad, but coming down (without trekking poles) had my quads like rubber for days afterwards. Would i do it again though? Absolutely. Wonderful time with my brother. | ||

| Mountainjeff | mud and ice ![]() Date Climbed: Apr 7, 2012 | |
| Started at noon and was on the summit by 2:30. Lower sections of the trail were pretty wet, but at about 3000' there started to be a significant amount of ice on the trail. Traction aids will be a good idea until the snow melts. Views were amazing from the summit. The mailbox is covered by a lot of snow and there is a dangerous cornice right near the summit. | ||

| Bobman | Tough Climb ![]() Date Climbed: Feb 10, 2012 | |
| Much tougher than I thought it would be, and some route-finding on the trail (thank God for the white diamonds). The final rocky slopes have up to three feet of snow, and a bit of wind, but the only sun I had all day. Three hours up, 90 minutes down, stiff and sore and eyes still stinging from the sweat, even after shower. Great views from top, but weather started to turn, so I headed down after 15 minutes. One guy brought a folding chair up, was hanging out, having a great time. Could not have done it without mini spikes and trek poles--stupidly left gaiters in the car and they would have helped keep snow out of my boots. A very nice day on the hill. | ||

| CzechMark | The kid's aren't alright ![]() Date Climbed: Jan 16, 2012 | |
| 0 degree windchill, 20-30mph gusts of sideways snow. I broke a lot of trail post-holing past the treeline. Some of the drifts were over 3 feet deep. Two guys from Bellingham followed my tracks up and were the only other people that summited that day. Props to them. I thought I was the only crazy person to try Mailbox that day haha | ||

| Great training hike for Rainier. Loaded up packs and went to the top. Got back just in time for the rain to start DUMPING. Couldn't believe how many people there were in shorts, tennis shoes, and NO WATER or JACKETS doing this in March. Come on people use your heads and go half way prepared please | ||

| juneauhiker | Proper footwear? ![]() | |
| We saw people with shoes ranging from plastic mountaineering boots to vibram 5 fingers with lots of tennis shoes and hiking boots in between. Had fresh snow not covered the last 500' I don't doubt we would have seen chacos or tevas too. | ||
