| I was out for a morning run on the Mammoth Rock Trail and saw the word "TOP" with an arrow etched onto the sign at Old Mammoth Road. Who could resist that? I followed the trail (which merges with 4WD road) and, sure enough, ended up on top. | |

| Climbed via the "deep groove/chimney cut into the right side of the face" described by Burd. The left slot of the chimney has three easy scrambles 10-15' each -- you can skip the first of these by starting up the right slot then ducking through a hole. No real exposure anywhere on this route -- a nice quick climb to work out the kinks after the long drive from the bay area. Climbed with brother Andrew. | |

| This was my last objective of what turned out to be a long day: Crystal Crag-Mammoth Crest-Sherwin Crest-Mammoth Rock. I just made it up to the summit before needing to turn on my headlamp, but the downclimb was done in the dark. Glad it was pretty easy with generous holds! | |
