Manly Beacon

Manly Beacon

Manly Beacon from the route to Red Cathedral. The salt pan of Death Valley, where the Western Hemisphere's lowest point is, lies beyond, and Telescope Peak, more than 11,000' above it, is in the distance. You can also see the upper portion of the easiest route up Manly Beacon. Death Valley National Park, California-- April 2003

Can't wait...

Red Cathedral looks neater than Manly! Would like to get to DV again before it gets too hot.

Re: Can't wait...

Thanks! It's not as visually stunning, I think, but it's lightly visited and has unbelievable views. I think the page will be up tomorrow night. I hope it turns out well.

So much to look at

This is a great shot. I was just there a few days ago so I can appreciate what you've captured here.

Re: So much to look at

If you ever go back, use an SUV or truck and get out on all the unpaved roads in the park; there are incredible wonders, and you can sleep in the car or camp just about anywhere. I'm glad you enjoyed the short trip and look forward to seeing those pictures from Golden Canyon.
