| Still some snow along the road. Ran about 2/3rd of the way up and almost all the way down. I could see Lassen Peak from the fire tower. Although I found it, Martis Peak Road is not marked. | |

| Skinned my way up, and slid back down. Kind of a soggy day--the snow kept clumping on my skis, grrrrr. Snowing on top, so no view, but a fun outing nonetheless. | |

| Hiked the TRT from Brockway summit to Martis Pk, Placer HP, Mt Baldy, Rifle Pk, Rose Knob and Rose Knob Pk. The lookout has good views, the peak itself does not. I ran into 5 bears near Martis Pk around sunset on my way back. | |

| Continuous snow from the locked gate up to the lookout. Carried snowshoes the whole way since it was packed down by snowmobile traffic. Beautiful clear day and unseasonably warm (50's in the afternoon). Nice half-day stroll. -- Also did this several times in winter 2003. | |
