Zmuttgrat?

Wonderful photo- colors and composition are very nice. Do you know if that is the Zmutt Ridge on the R-hand skyline?

Re: Zmuttgrat?

Didn't the Duke of Abruzzi do it in the 1800s? How hard actually is it (YDS, WI?, AI?, ...)? Aside from the quantified steepness of 50 deg, the description on SP says things like "quite difficult." As what I consider difficult now as opposed to what I considered difficult 10 years ago as opposed to what Peter Croft considers difficult vary just a teeny bit, it's hard to assess what this actually means (the whole alpine conglomorate rating doesn't really tell the difficulty of the crux pitch either, at least as far as I gather it). Looks like an exceptional line, at any rate!

Re: Zmuttgrat?

Thanks for the detailed reply, Fred- quantified rock & ice difficulty ratings for a known climb seem like good things to know, to me. If a description is going to be given for a certain route at all, it seems that it ought to be as detailed as possible (most importantly with regards to the route's difficulty). This certainly doesn't look like a climb to be underestimated (this increasing its appeal, in a way!). Not to drag this one to death, but any ideas about the rock quality & pro' options? Thanks!
