Mauna Kea from the Saddle

[ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Mauna Kea from the Saddle
From the saddle between Hilo and the Kona coast of the big island of Hawaii. This picture I think helps convey why this mountain is considered a sacred place by the natives of Hawaii. The scale is quite deceptive. The photo was taken at an altitude of near 6000 feet, while the summit is nearly 14,000 feet.
