Aaron JohnsonNot Many Bail Options

I note in the Pacific to Atlantic Route that bail options are nill from this ridge. This photo is a great illustration of that. Most couloir options look gnarly at best, although they'd be slightly more manageable with snow if it's soft and late in the season. In dry conditions, they are steep, loose rock nightmares. With hard snow, these things could be deadly. You're better off to stay on the ridge rather than bail, which in a storm could be a real tingly affair!

Thanks for this great photo!
