Mayacama Mountains

Mayacama Mountains

Cobb Mountain (on the left) and Mount Saint Helena (on the right) are among the high points of the Mayacama Mountains, a subrange of the North Coast Range. The turbine building and cooling tower for the old SMUD powerplant is visible below Cobb Mountain (the little white squares on the ridgeline below the summit). SMUD is part of the Geysers complex of geothermal powerplants, which mine steam out of the ground to make electricity.
