| Hiked Mazatzal in a long day out of Tucson. Came in on Barnhardt Trail, and bushwacked through a rough patch of Manzanita enroute to the top. Wussed out on the gamble of a rough shortcut down to Shake Tree trail. | |

| What a steep, rugged, brush-covered amazingly fun viewpoint right in the heart of central AZ. Even the Y-Bar Trail itself was somewhat rugged due to forest fire damage. Then, turn right and go up! The pine forest on top felt great. | |

| Hiked the Y-bar basin/Barnhardt canyon Loop and had a great view of Mazatzal peak. Maybe next time I'll be ambitous enough for a bush-wacking expedition to the summit. | |
