Well....almost

I thought the big red shaggy-barked trees up on Palomar were Sequoias too, until I learned they are Incense Cedars (Calocedrus decurrens). Some of those guys, while not putting most of the Big Trees in the Sierra to shame, can be huge, and one in Doane Valley stands over 150 feet tall. Nice pics: cheers!

Nope, sorry - there are both giant sequoias and incense cedars up there - and this is a sequoia. I worked for Sequoia NP and Sequoia NF/GSNM for a while and am very familiar with both trees.
