Mera Peak Central climbed - Oct 11th 2018  Sucess!

Climbed Mera Peak Cental, MSL 6460 Mtrs on an extremely cold and windy day, winds speed over 50 kmph and -25 deg c. Only team to summit that day , everyone else turned back, myself and my wife Vimala summitted along with our Guide from our trek company. Beautiful views from the Top , Crystal clear views of all 5 Great 8000ers and countless other Himalayan beauties. Took 6 hours from High camp at MSL 5800 to the top. Boots gave trouble, took about 8 hours after summitting at 9:30 AM to get back to Khare Village at about 5:00 PM. Excellent to get a 6000 Mtr peak under the belt after Kilimanjaro earlier.

Weather finally broke  Sucess!

Sat at the Kathmandu airport for 4 days waiting for a flight to Lukla. B/c the people I was with were on a tight time schedule, we had to climb faster than one would normally like for acclimatization. After 3 days of rain hiking, the weather finally cleared and we got a beautiful summit day. I went up with my guide but the other 2 members of the party only made it to high camp

Amazing summit view  Sucess!

After being properly acclimatized from my previous 6 weeks of trekking and climbing in Kangchenjunga region, I decided to visit the Solu Khumbu and Barun Makalu areas and get a little higher, a little faster. A team of 4, we headed out of Lukla on Dec. 4th, reached the high camp on Mera on Dec. 10th, and climbed the Mera Central on the 11th, before 9:00am, took some pics (WHAT A VIEW!!!) and headed down. I was back in Lukla on Dec. 14th. A superb 11-day trek and climb. December weather was amazingly clear, only a little chilly at altitude. Wouldn't change a thing, absolutely perfect!!!

From High Camp  Sucess!

All 4 of my group made it to top. After 11 days of acclimatisation still exhausting though the route is technically very easy. Superb views, even including Kangchenzongha. Broke down high camp and descended to Mera La Base Camp same day.
