North, Medio, Middle Truchas
Started at Trampas Lakes trailhead and climbed North Truchas. Followed the ridge from North Truchas to Medio Truchas (some 3rd class), then continued on to Middle Truchas. Descended Middle Truchas west ridge to a chute that took us down into Rio Quemado Basin. Crossed the basin and climbed a steep slope back up to the saddle near Sheepshead Peak. Continued down to Trampas Lakes and back to the car. Pretty long day - 18 miles with 6,000 ft of gain.
Rachael and I camped near No Fish Lake after backpacking in from Santa Barbara CG, climbed the east ridge of Truchas, then traversed the remaining Truchas Peaks and Chimayosos before heading back to camp. The ridge from Medio to North had some good scrambling, maybe a little 4th class for a couple of moves but mostly reasonable 3rd with pretty straight forward route finding.

NW Ridge
Hiked to the summit of Middle Truchas via NW Ridge route from Rio Quemado TH. Third summit since year 2000. Continued onto "Medio" and South Truchas Peaks. Returned via Northeast Ridge of "Medio" Truchas. Beautiful weather, nice hike, -- great day in Pecos!

Second time up here, first was in May 2006. Middle is my favorite of the Truchas summits, amazing views across Rio Quemado!

Happy Easter!
Were able to drive to the trailhead & entered through Quemado Falls with much thrashing. It was actually mentioned that snowshoes would have been preferable to continually putting skis on and off. Finally could relaxe & skin continuously once we reached the basin.
Crampons would have been comforting. Climbed the main chute in a whiteout & had a fantastic powder run. 10 hour round trip for 10 minutes of skiing, but definitley the best easter ever!
