Mike Crossing Log, Gnat Cr.

Mike (son and occaisional rock climber)crossing a log jam under Gnat Cr. Falls. This used to be a glorious walk beginning either here or about a mile downstream (Tarzan bushwhacking), going through mixed forest marsh a bog meadow with spring creek, a huckleberry and alder swamp, an upper meadow, thence up to an unammed bald with views of Coast Range peaks Saddle, Wickiup, Nicolai et al. Also the Columbia River. Fell to scrape and burn clear cutting about 10 years ago. No longer recommended. Falls themselves have a 100' buffer strip, all else shot. Aug 01.
