Blustery Winter Fun  Sucess!

'Partner in crime' (the lovely Miss Castro!) and self had a challenging day snowshoeing out to Miller. Ended up ascending close to the east ridge between Cornell and Miller. Fun coping with the 30-40 mph winds and fresh snow, in addition to fighting through the snow covered chapparal. Ahhhh.... the sheer pleasure of suffering!

Quick Jaunt  Sucess!

Being eternally lazy and short on time, I made a bee-line for Miller Pk from the tram station on a perfect day. Nicely frozen snow, bright sunny skies with a puff of a breeze. One layer of clothing and I was still sweating. Crampons were pretty necessary for the cross country trip and I just left them on to climb the summit blocks as well. I was in a hurry to take my shirt off and dry out!

Really a Peak?  Sucess!

Guess if you're doing San Jacinto why not have some fun if you're able to go off train and not get lost and get this "summit". Just don't get lost!

Easiest 10K Summit Anywhere  Sucess!

A 10,000 foot peak just minutes from the bend in the trail to San Jacinto Peak! There's a very very short 3d class section just underneath the plaques.

Day hike with San Jacinto  Sucess!

Cool diversion before the short push up to San Jacinto's summit. Views into Palm Springs/Desert are better than San Jacinto in my view.

twice  Sucess!

Both times I did this cool little guy was on cross country routes from Jacinto to Cornell. Most people scoff at this rock pile but I really love it.

Might as well  Sucess!

If you're on your way to San Jacinto Peak, you might as well take an extra 20 minutes to bag Miller Peak as well. A fun little scramble to break up the monotonous trail and a great view.
