Is it due to the big format of the photos on top of the page...or rather the number of small photos in the section mountains? I'd like to maintain the big ones on top, but I can reduce the smaller ones.
Though I'm not an expert I think both things slow the page loading. I'd clear two of those big pics and leave thumbs in the page. Perhaps you also should decrease the weight of the big photos.
You have done a good job of linking the page to the member peaks as well as the closest communities. For completeness, the huts often have their own pages and you should link the hut names to those websites.

Perhaps too many...pics embeded in the page. I have to wait near 30 seconds to see the entire page using a a 3M connection.
